This is a cute family activity. My 3 y.o. loved walking in and playing in the train cars. The volunteer who runs the model train room was very nice and talked to us about the trains and was so sweet to our son. They have more running trains in the back with a small train track that kids can ride in. My wife and I enjoyed the historical items and info in the area next to the dining cars. I wish they had more in the gift shop. It was just model train items and kits to make or repair trains.
We took our 5 and 8 year old grandsons, they loved the trains...especially the train ride. We did not find the volunteers all that friendly...and we were dropping donations in all the boxes. It was like pulling teeth to get them to talk to us...the guy at the gift store was friendly. My husband tried to engage them in conversation as his grandfather worked for the railroads in California and the reply was something like this isn't California.
It's Awesome! It was so interesting to actually board the trains of the past and to see the train station as it was back in the day. I found it very interesting.
My 3 year old is obsessed with train. Here you can walk inside and sit in cabooses and a dining cart. They also have a ride on train for young kids. The museum is great and we will go back. There is a gift shop for anyone who wants a toy.
This is an excellent museum, run by some outstanding volunteers! There are old Cabooses, Boxcars, Passenger Cars, equipment, telegraph, schedules, and much much more! They also have a vast array of model railroad lines, with one on which the kiddies can ride! It is fun for young and old, alike.
